A three-day course for two surgeons from Gliwice

Two surgeons from the National Cancer Center in Poland spent three days watching eight autologous reconstructions, then a fourth on revision surgery.

Dr. Haddock with two visiting surgeons from Gliwice, Poland

Jakub Opyrchal, MD, PhD and Daniel Bula, MD, PhD, of the National Cancer Center in Gliwice, Poland, spent three days with the practice.

Over that course they observed eight autologous breast reconstructions using the three donor sites the practice relies on most — DIEP flaps from the abdomen, PAP flaps from the posterior thigh and LAP flaps from the flank.

They then stayed a fourth day for revision surgery. Revisions are where the aesthetic result is refined, and they are the part of reconstruction a visiting surgeon almost never gets to watch — most courses show the first operation and stop there.
