DIEP flap technique, and how to make the operation better rather than only faster.
Dr. Haddock spoke at the University of Chicago Section of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery on DIEP flaps: the practice’s approach to improving the operation, and to optimising the aesthetics of the result.
Those are two separate pursuits. One is about the mechanics of the operation — how it is sequenced, where time is lost, where complications come from. The other is about what the patient sees in the mirror afterwards. Progress in one does not automatically produce progress in the other.
