BRA Day Polska 2026: a celebration in Łódź

At the BRA Day gala in Łódź, women who have had breast reconstruction took to the runway.

During Breast Design Days in Łódź, Emily and I attended the BRA Day Polska gala on October 16. BRA Day, Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day, began in Canada in 2011; in Poland it has been led since 2014 by the Kopernik hospital in Łódź.

The runway show

The highlight of the evening was a runway show. Women who have had breast reconstruction walked as models, in collections that moved through the decades, from the 1920s to a vision of the 2040s. It was a joyful evening, and a reminder of what reconstruction can mean to the women we care for.

Why BRA Day matters

BRA Day exists so that every woman facing a mastectomy knows reconstruction is possible and that she has choices, from implants to reconstruction with her own tissue. Seeing so many women celebrated on that stage made the point better than any lecture could.

Thank you to the BRA Day Polska team and the Kopernik hospital for including us, and congratulations to every woman who walked.
