Best paper for a series of 300 LAP flaps

The practice’s lumbar artery perforator series was awarded best paper at the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery meeting.

At the annual meeting of the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery in San Diego, Dr. Haddock gave several talks on breast reconstruction using alternative and stacked flaps. The practice’s series of 300 LAP flaps was awarded best paper.

The lumbar artery perforator flap takes tissue from the flank. It is technically demanding and relatively few centers offer it, which means published series are small — and small series are how a technique stays experimental. A series of this size is what moves an option from unusual to established.
