Patient case

Expanders first, then implants and fat grafting

A staged reconstruction after bilateral nipple-sparing mastectomies, chosen to allow a modest increase in size.

This patient had bilateral nipple-sparing mastectomies and implant-based reconstruction, taking a staged approach with tissue expanders first.

The staging was a choice, not a necessity. It allowed a slight increase in size — her own breast tissue weighed 300 g, and the final implants were Allergan SCX 470 cc.

She also had 90 cc of fat grafting placed around the implants, which softens the edges and makes the result look and feel more natural.
